When I Grow Up I Want To Be Like…
Road Trip Wednesday is where YA Highway’s contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question and answer it on our own blogs. Check out what everyone had to say then add your own link at YA Highway!
This week’s topic: Which author’s career would you most like to emulate?
I had to think about this. Probably too much. The thing is, I admire so many writers, its hard to pick just one I’d like to be like when I grow up.
Writers like Carrie Ryan and Maggie Stiefvater amaze me. They wrote a book, didn’t give up, sold, then got big and sold more! Yes please! Others like Alyson Noel and Carrie Jones are just simply my idols. When I wrote each to tell them how very much I enjoyed reading their books, THEY WROTE BACK. And thanked me! (And I actually have funny conversations with Carrie on Facebook. She talks….to me! How effing cool is that!) I want to remember to do that. To appreciate the people who take the time to email me. Melissa Marr (Excuse the insane fangirl squeal please) is amazing. She posts on AW. She talks to people, answers questions, is gracious and funny!
I guess the overall theme here is approachability. I’ve always put writers on this pedestal, like a movie star. Getting the change to talk with them, asks questions, interact, is like a total Hollywood moment. Holy S%^&, they are actually talking to me! ME!! It makes me insanely happy.
That’s what I most want to emulate. I want to be like all of them.
How about you?
I want to change my answer to yours.
approachability, absolutely.
I agree. I DEFINITELY want to be an approachable author, because those are wonderful.
Awesome answer. The kind of writer who loves her readers – I can get behind that.
O_O No naughty jokes, woman.
